Travel peak

SHENZHEN International Airport has seen a summer travel peak in recent weeks as airline companies are adding more flights for the summer holiday travel market.

Between July and the end of September, China Southern Airlines has added 5,000 flights on 50 routes nationwide. People are buying up tickets to tourism cities in northern China to escape the Shenzhen summer heat.

Between July 1 and Aug. 6, Shenzhen Airlines had handled 3.43 million domestic and international passengers.

Rail opening date

HKMTR, the operator of the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, said the date for the launch of the rail service hasn’t been decided, although it has been slated for the third part of September.

The company, responding to some media reports that the date had been set for Sept. 23, said it was in the final stage of preparation for opening the rail line and would announce the date once it is decided.

Care centers

SHENZHEN is soliciting public opinion on the draft regulations regarding the management of off-campus care centers.

According to the draft rules, off-campus care centers are allowed to register as businesses or non-enterprise entities. The new rules also plan to streamline the administrative approval process and provide food and fire safety guidelines for these centers.

It is stipulated that off-campus care centers that provide paid tutoring should apply for a license from the educational department before carrying out relevant activities. The new rules also give specific requirements on staffing, food service and safety at the care centers. Suggestions can be sent to zouhh@fzb.sz.gov.cn.

HPV vaccine

ACCORDING to a notice released by Guangdong Medicine Exchange, the center plans to purchase two types of vaccines, including the 9-valent HPV vaccine (HPV9) developed by Merck & Co. Inc. and the mumps attenuated live vaccine.

The reference price of HPV9 vaccines is 1,298 yuan (US$190) per injection. The vaccine is applicable to women aged 16 to 26 years old for the prevention of diseases such as cervical cancer, vulvar cancer and vaginal cancer caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV).

Rental subsidy

NANSHAN District will offer 400 million yuan a year in subsidies to help professionals working in the district pay rent.

The subsidy is 20,000 yuan a year for an apartment, according to the district’s housing and construction bureau.

Employees at enterprises, medical institutions, social organizations, and nongovernmental schools and kindergartens can apply for the subsidies.

The district also plans to build 10,449 affordable apartments for talents this year, of which 5,047 homes in four projects are currently under construction.

A MAN surnamed Ding, 29, was detained during a police raid July 26 at a warehouse in Guangming New Area for counterfeiting well-known brands of beer. Police also seized 230 cartons of the counterfeit beer.
