Family doctor

THE Shenzhen Family Doctor Association, which aims to mobilize all sectors of society to promote family doctor services in the city, was established yesterday.

The first 150 individual members include general practitioners, community nurses, public health doctors and medical specialists. The association plans to recruit more members, such as pharmacists, specialists, health managers and psychologists, in the near future.

At present, the association is constructing a family doctor call platform. Patients can call the center and consult with family doctors immediately when they feel ill. The platform is expected to be launched this year.

Social security burden

THE city’s social security bureau announced Saturday that it had helped Shenzhen-based enterprises save more than 4.7 billion yuan (US$687 million) over the first six months of 2018 by lowering social security payments, relieving the burdens on enterprises and developing a better business environment.

Multiple measures have been taken by the bureau to assist the city in implementing supply-side structural reform. The measures include reducing social insurance fees, subsidizing enterprises to encourage stable employment, and granting birth allowances.

Parking meter refund

THE work to refund residents who had made deposits for the parking meter system that was abandoned will officially end Wednesday, according to the city’s finance and transport commissions.

The parking meter system was adopted in 1997 and discontinued after the 10-year contract expired. However, the operating company had not refunded the users of the system in time, causing inconvenience for residents.

The authority launched the refund service in July 2015. By May 25 this year, a total of 3.53 million yuan had been given back to residents.

Solid waste seized

SHENZHEN Customs seized a batch of solid waste weighing over 46 tons at Yantian Port in July, which has since been confirmed to be ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA). The waste has been transferred to the anti-smuggling department for further investigation.

According to Chinese laws, it is illegal to import plastic materials without the proper approval from the authority.

Dead-end road to open
