Female smuggler A WOMAN surnamed Li was caught by Shenzhen Customs using her 10-year-old daughter to smuggle 14 brand-name watches. Customs officers found warranty certificates of 33 Longines watches in a plastic bag on Li when she crossed the border at Wenjindu Checkpoint recently, while 14 watches and 156 IC chips were tied around her daughter’s waist. The products were estimated to have a market value of 200,000 yuan (US$29,215). An investigation showed that Li’s daughter studies in Hong Kong, so they often travel between the two cities. The case has been handed over to the anti-smuggling department for investigation. IPR infringing goods DAPENG Customs recently seized a batch of goods with a market value of 2.5 million yuan for suspected trademark infringements. A trading company from Fuzhou declared it was exporting women’s garments and handbags through Yantian Port. Suicide at airport A MAN committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of the Shenzhen airport terminal, according to the airport authority Saturday.
