Breaking fences

A MAN was detained for five days recently for unscrewing part of the fence on Longmei Road as his female colleague complained that she had to detour from the route to the office because the fence was blocking her way.

Video provided by Longhua police showed the man climbing over the fence in the wee hours of July 31 and unscrewing the fence.

Police identified the man Aug. 7 by reviewing surveillance camera footage.

On Aug. 8, two other men in Longhua were also detained for dismantling fences, which they thought were affecting their business.

Reporting gangs

AUTHORITIES have unveiled hotlines the public can use to report clues that may lead to the arrest of criminal gangs. The public can call 0755-6182-2222 (the city’s anti-gang crime office), 0755-2222-2110 (Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau) or 12388 (hotline of the disciplinary inspection committee and the supervisory commission).

Occupying sidewalks

THE city’s urban administration handled 120,000 violations involving businesses illegally occupying sidewalks between May 11 and Aug. 9. A total of 746 “zombie” cars were cleared from the roads, sources from the urban administration showed.
