Here comes mind-controlled robotic arm
    2018-08-15  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Researchers in Japan have taught volunteers to use a mind-controlled robotic arm to help them out in doing two things at once.

They say the system could revolutionize factory and construction work.

Engineers from Kyoto’s Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute wrote: “Participants in a new study were able to complete two different tasks in the same time interval by using their own limbs in concert with a mind-controlled robotic limb separate from their bodies.”

The robotic limbs, referred to as supernumerary* robotic limbs, work alongside the person’s natural ones.

The robotic arm was placed next to the participants, who wore two electrodes on the outside of their head to capture brain activity.

The arm was then calibrated* to pick up on the differences in brain patterns when participants imagined the arm grasping and releasing a bottle.(SD-Agencies)
