SZ school dance troupe fetches grand prix
    2018-08-15  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The dance troupe from Shenzhen Meilin High School brought home two gold prizes at the fourth Prix d’ Europe which lasted for two days and dropped its curtain in Paris on July 30.

The Chinese classical dance “Walk of Beauties” performed by the troupe stood out among all the performances and obtained the highest mark, winning the gold prize in the group dance category. With a unanimous vote from the eight judges, this performance also obtained the grand prix.

The dance “Uyghur Girl” performed in the Uyghur dance style won the gold prize in the category of solo dance. “Letting more people see Chinese dance and get to know Chinese culture is our biggest gain in this trip to France,” said Liu Di, leading teacher of the dance troupe.

Jérôme Chrétien, director of Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) du Grand Avignon, gave a thumbs-up to the dance troupe from Shenzhen and invited the students to study at their school. Another judge who is also from CRR du. Grand Avignon commented that their performance was the only dance that touched him.

The competition this time consisted of dance and music categories, gathering excellent candidates from around the world including China, France, Italy, Japan and the United States. Professional candidates from renowned dance schools in China including Beijing Dancing Academy and Minzu University of China also took part in the competition.

Prix d’ Europe was founded in 2015 and has been successfully held for four sessions up to now. (Chen Xiaochun)
