New industrial belt emerging in Futian
    2018-08-16  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AN EMERGING industrial belt, which aims to become another high-quality growth engine in Futian District, is rising in northern Futian District, the Shenzhen Economic Daily reported.

According to the district’s planning, the butterfly-shaped Meilin-Caitian area will not only become a headquarters base for high-tech companies, but also a livable town with sustainable ecology.

From January to June in 2018, investment in the area totaled 2.499 billion yuan (US$360 million), achieving 48.33 percent of the annual investment target. In particular, investment in the high-end industry accounted for 90 percent.

The Meilin-Caitian area is located in the central axis that runs through Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Dongguan, enjoying obvious geographical advantages in the Greater Bay Area.

In addition, the area, once a manufacturing base in Shenzhen, strives to catch up with the trend of new economy and new industries to inject fresh vitality into the area by proposing to build “intelligent +” industrial clusters featuring artificial intelligence.

According to the work plan released by the district’s government in early 2017, the planning of the area included 40 key tasks and 52 investment projects, with a total investment of nearly 50 billion yuan.

With Lianhua Hill, Bijia Hill and Tanglang Hill forming a valley, an ecological landscape corridor will be opened up in the area. By 2020, the coverage of square, water and green space in the area will reach 15.8 hectares and increase by 73 percent, offering a low-carbon and ecological living space.

Moreover, the district aims to complete the land renovation on 10 plots of land that cover about 300,000 square meters. By 2025, the total area for land development will reach 5.4 million square meters, and the space for high-quality industries will increase more than five times.

To speed up the gathering of high-end industries and innovative resources, Futian has also release its regional functional layout and relevant policies. At present, innovative and quality projects from Huawei, DJI, Siemens, UBTECH and other giants have settled in the Meilin-Caitian area.

In addition, the China International Consumer Electronic Exchange/Exhibition Center (CEEC), an international platform for electronics display and trading located in UpperHills in the area, started business Mar. 28.  (Zhang Yu)
