Top 500 list

MORE than 20 Bao’an-based firms have muscled into this year’s Guangdong’s Top 500 Firms list, Bao’an Daily reported Tuesday.

With total revenue of 974.50 billion yuan (US$141.65 billion), Shenzhen-based Ping An Insurance Group, China’s most valuable insurer, came in first on the list, followed by telecom and smartphone maker Huawei Technologies Co. Bao’an-based Amer International Group ranked fifth with a total annual revenue of 491.80 billion yuan.

New funding

SHENZHEN Augmented Reality Technology Co., widely known as 0glass, has recently completed its fresh round of financing, Bao’an Daily quoted its co-founder and CEO Bob Su as saying Aug. 8.

Su did not disclose how much the firm raised in the latest round of funding, only saying the sum is “millions of” yuan. Su told the newspaper that the money raised will be used to boost production of the firm’s augmented reality glasses, recruit more sales people and increase efforts to promote the firm’s products. Bao’an-based Oglass is a company that is committed to applying artificial intelligence to industrial use, focusing on the development of augmented reality smart glasses.

‘Green’ deal

SHENZHEN Yuto Packaging Technology Co., a Bao’an-based high-end packaging service provider, inked a deal with the city government of Yibin in southwestern China’s Sichuan Province to invest in the city’s environment friendly packaging projects.

According to the deal, Shenzhen Yuto will explore opportunities in the “smart” packaging and the environment friendly bamboo molded pulp projects in Yibin, which is famous for its vast bamboo forests.
