A SET of plans on building Shenzhen Polytechnic (SZP) into a world-class vocational institute recently gained the Shenzhen Municipal Government’s approval, announced Shenzhen Polytechnic on Saturday.

The plans were jointly composed by Shenzhen Polytechnic and the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau. Approved by the city government, the plans will become Shenzhen’s standards for developing tertiary vocational education and a contribution to the nation’s vocational education system.

Wang Weizhong, Shenzhen’s Party chief, addressed in a written approval that Shenzhen Polytechnic has made great achievements by cultivating nearly 10,000 professional technicians for the society, and the city will continue to support SZP in becoming a world-class vocational education university.

For the past few years, the city government has been actively exploring the development of vocational education and aiming to cultivate technicians who can contribute to the city’s development.

The plans mapped out detailed strategies to be implemented by the university, such as collaborating with world-class enterprises, introducing teachers with qualifications and rich experiences, and providing a good environment and infrastructure for technique researches.

It is expected that the plans could also contribute to the model of China’s vocational education development, according to the university.
