Expo opens

THE fourth China Smart City International Exposition will open at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center today, showcasing the latest achievements in smart city construction, digital economy, intelligent industry and futuristic technologies.

More than 1,000 government representatives, 250 international guests from eight countries, and 20,000 representatives from enterprises, will participate in the three-day exposition.

More than 20 seminars on smart city innovation will be held and a report will be released on the capital vitality index among cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Wall collapses

A TOTAL of 204 people from 59 families in two apartment buildings in Hualong New Village in Jihua Subdistrict, Longgang District, were relocated after a support wall behind the building collapsed Saturday.

Reinforcement measures have been taken, and the cause of the collapse is still under investigation.

E-lane renovation

THE monthlong renovation of e-lanes at the Arrival Hall of Futian Checkpoint started yesterday, sources from Huanggang Exit-Entry Frontier Inspection Station said.

The station suggested that travelers avoid crossing the border during rush hours on holidays and weekends between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Man drowns

A MAN in his 40s drowned last week while swimming at the Longquan Gymnasium in Shiyan, Bao’an District.

The swimming pool is about 1.6 meters deep, and lifeguards conducted rescue measures once they realized the man was drowning. The man was not breathing when the ambulance arrived.

The cause is still under investigation.
