A POLICE aide died on duty Saturday while handling a conflict in Dapeng New Area, according to a release from the Dapeng New Area Public Security Bureau on Sunday.

Dapeng police received a report at 1:27 a.m. Saturday from a man who claimed his car had been hit by a flying stone while he was driving on Shenkui Road.

Police officers and aides were immediately dispatched to the scene to handle the case.

During the process, the police aide, who wasn’t identified, was ambushed by the 33-year-old suspect and died, according to the release. The suspect was later identified by his surname Hu and was caught by police seven hours after the incident.

Hu admitted to attacking the police aide.

The case is still under investigation.
