Oil price drops

CAR owners can save about 2 yuan (US$0.29) by fueling a 50-liter tank as of yesterday due to the drop in gasoline and diesel prices.

This is the seventh time this year that the authority has lowered fuel prices due to changes in petroleum prices on international markets.

Poisonous ants

RESIDENTS outdoors or in the wilderness are advised to be cautious about bites by solenopsis invicta, also known as fire ants, according to a release by Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Bites from such ants, which recently appeared across the city, can cause allergic symptoms, such as a burning sensation, pain, swelling and pustules, and even anaphylactic shock, dizziness, difficulty breathing, and convulsions in severe cases.

5 thieves detained

FIVE electricians working for a construction team were criminally detained for stealing unused copper electricity wires and selling them for profit.

The six copper electricity wires, at 150 meters in length and valued at 11,000 yuan, were sold for 2,000 yuan as scrap, according to Longgang police.
