Bus parking facility

THE main work on the Yueliangwan Bus Parking Terminal will be completed next month. The 10-story facility will be the first intelligent parking complex for electricity-powered buses in China.

With a floor space of 98,478 square meters, it is designed with 660 parking spaces for buses, 237 charging poles and 50 parking spaces for cars.

It will be put into operation next year, solving parking and charging difficulties for buses in the Shekou and Qianhai areas. Shenzhen is planning to build 10 such large bus parking facilities in seven districts, offering a total of 7,000 parking spaces.

Toilet effort

FUTIAN District Urban Administration Bureau will complete the renovation and upgrading of 54 public toilets before the end of next year.

It will also build toilet and renovate two on par with Japanese toilets in its pilot program, which will be promoted in the district.

Diamond smuggler

A WOMAN was caught at Futian Checkpoint illegally carrying diamonds to cross the border from Hong Kong to Shenzhen on Monday, Shenzhen Customs said.

The woman was intercepted for an inspection. Officers found plastic parcels in the side pockets of her backpack containing diamonds. The diamonds weighed 58.99 grams and were estimated to have a market value of 1.12 million yuan (US$163,609). The woman claimed she had been paid to carry the diamonds across the border for her friends.
