    2018-08-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

2018思维挑战赛北京举行 深圳学子勇夺团体冠军

Five student-members of the Shenzhen Elementary Mathematics Research Society fetched the first prize in the juvenile group at the second CRML creative thinking contest held in Beijing from August 1 to 7.

The five students are Zhang Ruixin, Chen Bo, Huang Zixuan, Zhang Fengsheng and Ma Wenbo. Guided by Ma Liyou, a teacher from Shenzhen Yuanling Primary School, the five students plus counterpart Zhang Xuanchen from Nanjing Foreign Language School won first prize thanks to their tacit cooperation. They each also had excellent performance in individual events.

“Academic competitions can help discover and cultivate talents. Since 1994, almost all the winners of Fields Medal had attended International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) when they were in middle school. Over half of them are place winners at the competition, with some winning full-score gold medals. Peter Scholze, the winner of this year’s Fields Medal, has attended the IMO for four consecutive years and obtained one silver and three gold medals,” said Zhang Chengyu, a gold medal coach of the IMO.

The Shenzhen Elementary Mathematics Research Society, Shenzhen English Society and Shenzhen Primary and Secondary School Academic Competition Society are social organizations registered with the government that are qualified to organize and hold academic competitions. (Chen Xiaochun)
