App available to handle minor accidents

DRIVERS can use the new police app 12123 to settle minor traffic accidents, or choose to have police determine liability online, from yesterday.

After a minor accident in which there are no injuries and the car remains mobile, app users can choose the Accident Fast Handling tab to upload up to six photos of the accident for background processing, the local police said in a release Friday.

If there are no disagreements about the accident, the two sides can choose to settle in private by uploading license and insurance information, and submitting their liability agreement to the police. After receiving an app or text message verification, the system will generate an electronic agreement and text message to instruct the drivers to contact their insurance companies for compensation, according to police.

If the two sides disagree about the accident, they can choose to have the police determine their liabilities. After the police have confirmed the accident, the system will send text messages to the drivers instructing them to contact their insurance companies.

The minor accident remote handling service is available between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
