Semiconductor fund

CHONGQING plans to establish a 50-billion-yuan (US$7.3 billion) fund to help develop the semiconductor industry, according to Xinhua.

The fund would provide up to 20 million yuan to integrated circuit projects in which investment of up to 500 million yuan has been committed, and up to 5 million yuan to projects in which investment of up to 20 million yuan has been committed, Xinhua said.

Gabon project

ENERGY firm TBEA will invest in a 180-million-euro (US$209 million) hydropower project in Gabon alongside the West African country’s sovereign wealth fund, according to a Gabonese official.

Construction will begin “pretty soon” on the project, which will have a power generation capacity of 70 megawatts in the first phase, said Liban Soleman, general coordinator of the Bureau of Coordination and Planning for an Emerging Gabon.
