Shenzhen Dakan Primary School, designed and constructed by China Construction Steel Structure Corp. Ltd., was successfully handed over on August 31. It indicates that the city’s first school assembled using steel-structure parts has been built in just 138 days and is now officially put into use. Dakan Primary School was formerly located in a class-1 water source protection zone. Now, the new location is at Xili Fuli Farm in Nanshan District where it can better help facilitate the ecological and environmental management of Xili Reservoir. The completion of the project will not only allow students to enroll at the former school site to attend the school at a more convenient location, but also contribute to the water protection work of the class-1 water source protection zone. As a key project of the Shenzhen government, Shenzhen Dakan Primary School is an A-level school. In order to ensure the smooth opening of the school for over 1,600 staff and students, China Construction Steel Structure Corp. Ltd. used advanced management methods to implement BIM and intelligent site technology to shorten the project duration from one year to 138 days. The newly-built school has eight individual buildings, which hold 30 ordinary classrooms, eight teachers’ offices, three computer classrooms, two music rooms, two science rooms, two arts rooms, one infirmary, one dance studio, one library, and one conference hall.
