DEMONSTRATING the latest optoelectronic technologies from home and abroad, the 20th China International Optoelectronic Expo (CIOE) kicked off at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District yesterday.

The four-day fair, which marks its 20th anniversary this year, brings together 1,700 enterprises from more than 30 countries and regions, showcasing the most advanced solutions and applications in the field of optoelectronics.

The optoelectronic industry has been receiving unprecedented attention while embracing vigorous development, according to the organizer. Propelled by the exponential growth in demand for optoelectronic products, the applications of optoelectronic technologies have also extended to other fields, such as communications, electronics, manufacturing, health care, and people’s livelihood.

Ni Ming, a staffer from the marketing department of Shenzhen-based Han’s Laser, said in addition to providing laser cutting machines, the company has also explored other developments, such as a laser 3-D printer.

“In collaboration with the Institute of Technology of South China, our 3-D printer can be applied in dentistry and oral surgery. As the manufacturing process is digitized, the precision of dental restorative materials can be greatly improved,” Ni said.

In addition, exhibitors from Germany, Denmark, Canada, South Korea, the United States and Japan will exhibit the most cutting-edge technologies and products in the industry.

According to Ralph Schachler, sales manager of German company Finetech, the expo not only offers an opportunity to display new products and technologies, but also a platform for exchanging ideas with professionals in the industry.
