Contemporary works by young artists
    2018-09-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

“In My View: A Group Exhibition of Young Artists” curated by Manuela Lietti features oil paintings, videos and photos created by Du Aiqing, Nicola Evangelisti, Doron Langberg, Li Xiangwei, Rebekka Steiger, Shen Xiuyuan, Luisa Terminiello and Alice Wang.

Living and working in such a vast and fast-developing world, these young artists are searching for their unique sense of personal awareness, their conscious yet genuine self, relying on their own approach, and therefore responding to personal needs rather than grand narratives.

Lietti is an Italian independent art critic and curator specializing in contemporary Asian art. In 2003, she graduated from the Department of Oriental Languages and Civilizations at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. Her bachelor’s thesis is on contemporary Chinese artist Yang Shaobin.

After graduation, she moved to Beijing where she obtained her master’s degree in Chinese History of Art and Art Criticism from the Academy of Art and Design of Tsinghua University in 2007. Since 2003, Lietti has been active in curating exhibitions as well as public art projects in China and abroad.

She has worked with various institutions, including Venice Biennale, The Israel Museum, CAFA Art Museum, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Carrara Sculpture Biennale, Three Shadows Photography Art Center, the Italian Pavilion at the 2009 Shanghai Expo and Massimo De Carlo Gallery.
