Car crashes into barber shop, injures 3 in Longgang
    2018-09-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A BYD electric car crashed into a barber shop in Longgang District on Monday afternoon, injuring three people, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported yesterday.

The vehicle suddenly lost control as it was being parked and bumped into a courier’s tricycle and a car parked on the roadside before running into the barber shop, according to the report.

According to the courier, surnamed Li, he met the vehicle at a fork in the sloped road. Because the road was narrow, he waited for the car owner to park the vehicle. However, with a boom, the car accelerated straight into his tricycle and a parked car on the roadside before rushing into the barber shop.

When a reporter with the Daily arrived at the scene, the barber shop was found a mess. The whole body of the car had run into the shop. The floor was covered with broken glass and the barber’s chairs were damaged.

The traffic police soon called a trailer to pull the vehicle out of the barber shop. The car’s bumper was damaged, the front windshield was cracked and the air bag on the front passenger seat had popped out.

The driver said only him and his wife were in the car. Fortunately, his wife was sitting in the back seat and they were both uninjured.

According to the owner of the barber shop, there were nine people in the shop at the time and three of them suffered trivial injuries in the accident. A witness said that a customer who was sitting near the door was lucky to get away before the car rushed in.

The customer, who still had a lingering fear, found that the car had hit her chair directly after she ran away. Additionally, the cushion was full of broken glass and there was also a huge piece of metal on it.

The driver emphasized that the accident was caused by the car, as it suddenly lost control and wouldn’t stop even when he hit the brakes. However, a witness surnamed Li said the accident was most likely caused by the driver’s improper operation while he was reversing.

The Shenzhen traffic police are currently investigating the accident.
