Monroe exhibition debuts in town
    2018-09-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

More than 400 personal belongings of U.S. legend Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962) are on display at a new exhibition at Yealife in Yitian Holiday Plaza.

The items are on loan from German private collector and curator Ted Stampfer, who acquired the items through renowned auction houses such as Christie’s, Sotheby’s, Profile’s in History, Heritage and Julien’s and by respected private collections.

From clothes, accessories, photos, movie scripts, contracts to letters, the exhibition provides visitors an intimate perspective to get to know the Hollywood icon. In addition to her personal belongings, enchanting installations designed by domestic and overseas artists are also presented, such as a breathtaking channel of diamonds, dreamlike room of perfumes and a colorful shadow show.

Stampfer has been interested in Marilyn Monroe since he was 10. Initially more focused on her movies, he has concentrated on her private life and estate for a number of years. He dedicates his spare time to adding original items to his collection from Monroe’s property as well as from her life. Today, his private collection consists of more than 1,500 single pieces in a very special constellation. Stampfer is not interested in any scandals that may surround Monroe, but wishes instead to remember her with reverence through the special, exclusive presentation of his unique collection.
