Australia to introduce stricter policy to target overseas students
    2018-09-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison recently announced that the country will introduce tougher rules on immigration to control the number of immigrants and overseas students rushing to Melbourne and Sydney. The rules will be implemented in different regions of Australia in accordance with their actual circumstances.

But the PM said that not all the universities in Australia will be affected by the rules. “Overseas students in the University of Adelaide, universities in Perth and Hobart, and James Cook University will not be affected. However, the University of Melbourne, the University of New South Wales and University of Technology Sydney are likely to implement the new policy,” said Morrison.

By June 2017, the population of Sydney has increased by 102,000, of which 85,000 are immigrants. The population of Melbourne has risen by 125,000, of which 80,000 are immigrants. (Yang Mei)
