Woman orders food for workers
    2018-09-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A WOMAN identified only as He ordered food costing 850 yuan (US$124) from restaurants Monday and asked the deliverymen to send the food to the sanitation workers and police officers clearing roads blocked by the wreckage left across the city in the wake of Super Typhoon Mangkhut.

According to the restaurants of the same chain, they altogether received five orders from an anonymous customer on Monday morning.

On each order, the customer left a note asking the deliverymen responsible for the orders to deliver the food to the people who were clearing the streets. In particular, the customer also asked the deliverymen to take one serving of the food for themselves.

The first order, valued at 187.5 yuan, came in at around 10 a.m. The woman ordered 25 servings of buns and porridge, according to a receipt provided by the restaurant. Another order came in to the same restaurant at around 11:35 a.m., purchasing 10 servings of beef noodles and pumpkin porridge.

The other locations of the restaurant chain received the same orders later. All of the food was asked to be brought to the sanitation workers and police officers near the restaurants.

Staffers from the restaurants took pictures of the receipts and posted them online. The anonymous customer’s heart-warming action won praise from many residents. The woman did not leave her real contact number on the orders, so she could not be contacted.

However, through a screenshot of the conversation the woman had with one of the restaurant staffers on the food-ordering platform, He said she simply decided to order food for the people who were working hard to help the damaged city recover when she was ordering her own food. (Zhang Qian)
