Blood shortage

THE city’s blood center is facing a shortage of blood for clinical use due to Typhoon Mangkhut, which reduced blood donation over the weekend.

The blood center hopes residents will donate blood, especially Type O as it is in very high demand.

Dog bite

A WOMAN was recently compensated 45,000 yuan for being bitten by the dog of a factory in Longhua District.

On her way to work on the morning of Aug. 29, the woman, surnamed Xie, was bitten by a chained dog. The factory paid the medical bill for Xie, who had been pregnant for 50 days.

Gang crackdown

LONGGANG District People’s Court recently issued a public verdict on a case involving gangs.

The two defendants, surnamed Zhang and Ou, were sentenced to three years and four months in prison, respectively, and fined 5,000 yuan (US$728) for joining gangs and committing the crime of causing an affray. The two pleaded guilty after the sentences were pronounced.

So far, the Longgang court has handled 17 gang-related cases.
