Assisted reproduction project wins top award
    2018-09-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

CRYOCHIP, a startup project that could help improve the success rate of assisted reproduction, won the first prize and 500,000 yuan (US$72,464) at the Shenzhen Dream Catcher Cup University Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest that concluded Wednesday.

For this year’s event, the organizer offered a total of 3.6 million yuan in prizes. Thirty startup projects competed in the final organized by the city’s human resources and social security bureau.

The contest attracted more than 300 applications after being launched in May. The entries mainly covered bio-medicine, new materials, electronic information and new energy.

Among the 30 projects in the final competition, nearly half of them were created by returned overseas students.

Cryochip finally won the top prize of the competition with an overall score of 92.29 points.

The awards ceremony will be held at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center on Oct. 15.

It is the third year that the organizer has staged the event, and it has become a brand for student entrepreneurship. The organizer offers incentives, such as tutoring, loans, project promotion and financing matching, to support the competing projects.

Local college students, and those who have graduated within five years and have a Shenzhen hukou, who plan to start a business, or have had a registered startup business for no more than three years, can apply to join the contest.
