Renovation of commercial street to be completed
    2018-09-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE demolition of the Shatou commercial street, stretching from Xihuan Road to Shajing Road in Shajing Subdistrict, officially began on the morning of Aug. 28, putting the project on track for completion by the end of the year.

The commercial street is 643.22 meters long and serves as a secondary road. The demolition included two permanent constructions with a building area of 1,683.73 square meters, five simple structures with a horizontal projection area of 1,776.57 square meters and 33 structures, mostly enclosing walls, cement fields and flower beds, with an area of 623.13 square meters.

It has been reported that the project was put into operation in 2015. Due to the stagnation of land expropriation and demolition it remained incomplete, causing great inconveniences for residents, stores, the connection of sewage pipelines and traffic management.

According to a staffer with the Shajing Subdistrict Office, there are many crowded areas near Liaofeng Road, such as shopping malls and Shajing People’s Hospital. The road also connects the western part of Shajing with Bao’an Boulevard.

Additionally, it will ease the traffic pressure on Nanhuan Road and Beihuan Road. The broader road will also be conducive to the development of commercial activities in the area.

As the demolition proceeds, the sewage pipeline network should be connected in the near future. The commercial street’s renovation is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
