‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ trailer retells story
    2018-09-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SOPHIE TURNER has unveiled an out-of-this-world trailer for “X-Men: Dark Phoenix.”

The star brought the trailer to Wednesday’s “The Late Late Show,” where she and host James Corden offered the first look at the “X-Men” film that will adapt the classic comic book storyline and send the Marvel mutants into space.

Anticipation for the trailer has been even higher than usual, as the film was moved from its original November release date to Feb. 14, 2019. The move was made to accommodate reshoots for its third act and for what studio 20th Century Fox said was to allow it to launch in the prime February spot that saw 2016’s “Deadpool” and this year’s “Black Panther” become big hits.

The film once again stars James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Jessica Chastain joins the franchise in a villain role.

This will presumably be the final film to feature the cast that donned the roles in 2011’s “X-Men: First Class.” The looming Disney-Fox merger will mean the X-Men will be folded into Marvel Studio’s cinematic universe, with Disney’s Bob Iger recently confirming Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige would oversee the X-Men characters once the merger was completed.

“X-Men: Dark Phoenix” is written and directed by longtime “X-Men” writer and producer Simon Kinberg, who penned 2006’s “X-Men: The Last Stand,” which partially adapted the classic 1980s “Dark Phoenix” storyline.
