NANSHAN police recently busted a gambling ring that allegedly used AI technologies and WeChat to facilitate gambling involving 430 million yuan (US$62.32 million).

A total of 19 suspects were arrested, according to police.

Police received a clue from the public that several people had set up a WeChat group for gambling and more than 200 people were participating.

Based on big data, police confirmed the locations of the major ring members, as well as the ring’s division of labor and gambling structure. In the WeChat group, the ring allegedly used intelligent robot software to organize and control the flow of the gambling to ensure the dealers would win.

On March 23, police initiated an action arresting all 14 members, and seizing computers, mobile phones and account books that had been used for gambling.

A preliminary investigation showed that the ring had been involved in 430 million yuan worth of transactions.
