A PALM-SIZED premature baby, born weighing 1.65 kilograms, is now in stable condition after 25 days of treatment at SUSTech Hospital. The baby has been discharged from the hospital. According to doctors, the baby was immediately sent to the intensive care unit after birth due to aerothorax and blood gas tension. After intensive treatment, the baby’s breathing became stable. However, soon new symptoms arose after the baby’s vital signs became unstable, including bloody stool and abdominal distension. After further intensive care over the following weeks, the baby had overcome its obstacles and grown to 2 kilograms. The successful treatment marked a new step for SUSTech Hospital in treating preemies. (Han Ximin) |
