Asian Games champion shares experience with students
    2018-10-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Asian Games women skeet shooting champion Zhang Xinqiu shared her story with students at her former school Shenzhen Yuxin School on September 29.

Zhang first encountered skeet shooting at the age of 14, attracted to the sport by the joy shooting. She said she once considered giving the game up but ultimately got into the national team after sticking with her dream and working hard.

Zhang expressed her gratitude to Shenzhen Yuxin School for providing her with a good training platform. She likes the environment of the school, which has helped lay the foundation for her athletic career.

Her coach Qiu Chuanhai said that four students from the Guangdong Province team came from Shenzhen Yuxin School, representing half of the provincial team. The four students each laid good foundational knowledge and learned professional techniques attending the school.

Qiu said that Zhang works super hard and has experienced a lot of hardship. He is very touched by her tenacity. In the international arena, though the equipment of the national team was not as good as other teams, Zhang proved herself with her own ability.

Zhang told the students about how to handle training pressure and how to protect her eyesight as well as shared about some interesting moments. “For the championship, I want to thank our motherland, my teachers and coaches, and everyone around me. Without them, I wouldn’t become who I am today,” said Zhang.
