Children’s musical promotes traffic safety
    2018-10-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A part of an effort to raise children’s awareness of traffic safety, a children’s musical premiered at Nanshan Cultural and Sports Center on the afternoon of September 26. About 800 teachers and students from grades 1 through 4 of some primary schools in Nanshan District watched the performance.

The musical, which integrates drama teaching concepts and traffic safety knowledge, was specially designed for children. By way of “learning and acting,” children were taught about costume playing, traffic knowledge interpretation, traffic signs and traffic lights, creating an immersive and enjoyable experience.

To help children develop good traffic regulations observation habits, the musical also presented some negative examples of violating traffic rules such as overturning guardrails, playing with mobile phones while walking, making trouble in the car and not wearing a seatbelt.

In addition, the play will be further developed into a child traffic safety course for junior primary school students.

According to statistics, there have been 1,330 traffic accidents involving children under the age of 12 so far this year. The main reasons for the accidents are the lack of traffic safety awareness and violation of traffic rules.

To this end, Shenzhen traffic police have changed the traditional way of teaching traffic safety knowledge and cooperated with professional troupes by presenting a musical that combines stories, songs and dances.

The musical was held by the city’s road traffic safety committee office, Nanshan District Government, Shenzhen Education Bureau and Shenzhen Traffic Police Bureau.
