City-level swimming competition closes
    2018-10-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The Shenzhen Swimming Competition for Primary and Middle School Students ended on September 27 at the Shenzhen Swimming and Diving Arena.

After fierce competition, Yiqiang Primary school, Huafu Middle School and Shenzhen Senior High School won first places in the primary school A and B groups, the junior high school group and the high school group, respectively.

Hosted by the Shenzhen Education Bureau, the two-day event attracted 554 athletes from 86 schools. According to Yan Xiaofang, chief referee of the competition, the threshold for selecting contestants this year was higher than that of the previous editions.

Contestants are required to win the first or second places in major swimming events in order to participate in this year’s competition.

This competition aims to develop well-rounded students by encouraging them to take part in more sports events.

Since its first launch in 2006, the competition has been actively participated by primary and middle schools across Shenzhen.
