Science fair held at primary school
    2018-10-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The 22nd science fair and fourth maker fair of Jingpeng Primary School in Futian District officially kicked off on September 26, captivating students with activities that showcased rockets, robots and unmanned vehicles.

“Hello! Welcome to Jingpeng Primary School,” a robot greeted guests at the school gate. Although the robot was not tall, it was very agile and capable of holding conversations.

In addition to the robot greeter, a giant robot was also present at the fair. Its mighty stature immediately attracted the attention of children, who had to jump up to shake hands with it.

The liveliest activity at the fair was the “card building” activity, which was attended by students from grades 1 and 2 and their parents. On the school playground, the students and their families formed groups and built structures with cards.

With the concerted efforts of parents and children, structures such as Hakka enclosures, villas, Russian castles, exquisite pagodas, and gate towers were built on the playground. Moreover, there were caps, fans, small boxes, as well as exquisite fireworks, crowns and lanterns in a variety of patterns.

The director of the students’ affairs division surnamed Wen also praised the grades 1 and 2 students for their rich imaginations and strong innovation abilities.

Other highlights at the fair included paintings made of paper plates and other environmentally friendly materials and pictures that display the harmonious beauty of the environment and humans.

Zhou Yuan, principal of Jingpeng Primary School, said the science fair is aimed at cultivating students’ enthusiasm for science. Subsequently, the school will also host a PPT production competition, FEG unmanned car race, scientific knowledge competition, computer painting competition and other activities.
