Former Grand Slam winner sets up tennis club in Futian
    2018-10-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

ZHENG JIE (Shenzhen) International Tennis Club, which is named after China’s first tennis Grand Slam winner Zheng Jie, was unveiled Oct. 1 at the Jingtian Tennis Center in Futian District.

The ceremony was attended by leaders of the national sports bureau, Gao Shengyuan, head of Futian District, He Jie, deputy head of the district and Jian Dingxiong, head of the Culture and Sports Bureau of Futian District, Yan Zi, a retired Chinese-born Hong Kong tennis player and Wang Liangzuo, former head coach of the national tennis team.

The club provides training for young, high-level athletes and organizing tennis tournaments such as the “Zhengjie Cup” Teenager Tennis Tour.

The establishment of the tennis club makes up the fact that Futian has no professional tennis club a thing of the past and will help Futian to make the Youth Tennis Training Base of the Tennis Administrative Center of General Administration of Sport settle in Futian District. (Yang Mei)
