Hi-tech fair

THE 20th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) will be held from Nov. 14 to 18 at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, the organizers said.

Around 3,000 exhibitors from more than 100 countries and regions will bring 10,000 projects to the fair, which is regarded as China’s No. 1 high-tech exhibition.

The fair is expected to attract 500,000 visitors over the five days.

Job fair

A JOB fair will be held between Nov. 14 and 15 at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center.

A sideline event of the CHTF, the fair for high-end professionals, will invite more than 50 well-known enterprises to provide posts of high salaries. The fair also includes human resources summit and promotion of entrepreneurial startups. An talent introduction marking40th anniversary of reform and opening up will also be held.

City’s centenarians

THE city has a total of 157 centenarians, with the eldest being 109-year-old Huang Changjiao in Yantian District, sources from the civil affairs bureau said Wednesday, Double Ninth Day, a traditional Chinese holiday for paying tribute to the elderly.

Among the centenarians, 135 are female and 22 are male. Bao’an District has 36 centenarians, the most among the districts.

According to the city’s policies, senior citizens above the age of 80 with Shenzhen hukou are eligible for government allowances ranging from 200 to 500 yuan (US$29 and $72) per month. The city had 288,700 hukou residents above the age of 60 as of the end of 2017.

Gas leak

TWO workers were criminally detained for unruly roadside digging that broke a gas pipeline in Longhua District, causing a gas leak Oct. 14. The gas leak resulted in a cut in the gas supply to 1,600 residents in Guanlan Subdistrict.
