21 firms named and shamed for salary default
    2018-10-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN’S human resources and social security bureau Thursday published a list of 21 companies that were found to owe their employees backpay in the third quarter of this year.

The bureau has used a salary guarantee fund to pay 23.20 million yuan (US$3.34 million) to 3,144 workers.

Of the 21 companies, Shenzhen Nanling Toys Manufacturing Co. Ltd. owed the most at 20.55 million yuan.

The bureau has paid more than 19.71 million yuan to 2,796 workers at the company.

Shenzhen Shunhaocheng Electronics Co. Ltd. owed 142 workers 1.58 million yuan in unpaid salaries. The workers have received over 1.33 million yuan from the fund.

The bureau will take actions to recover the owed salaries from the owners of the companies.

Owners and executives of the companies who have absconded have been blacklisted in a credit system and will be put under investigation by the judiciary departments, the bureau said. It also urged them to appear at the district human resources departments.

According to regulations, employees who are owed salaries while their firms are under bankruptcy proceedings or the owners or executives have disappeared can apply for payment from the government’s salary guarantee fund. (SD News)
