THE 15th Yunfu International Stone Materials Sci & Tech Fair and the 9th Yunfu Stone Cultural Festival, co-organized by Yunfu Municipal Government, Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee, was unveiled at Foshan (Yunfu) Industrial Transfer Industrial Park on Thursday and will run until Oct. 21.

“The stone fair this year features a high degree of openness with exchanges and cooperation between different countries and regions along the Belt and Road, a high level of expertise with over 200 exhibitors and 340 exhibition booths, strong cultural highlights with lectures and special art performances, and quality projects,” said Huang Hanbiao, Party chief of Yunfu, during the opening ceremony.

Huang explained that during Yunfu Economic Activities (2018), which was held during the fair, a total of 154 projects with a total investment volume exceeding 100 million yuan (US$14.41 million) were signed, launched or completed. Among them, 65 projects are in the fields of new technology, new energy and biological medicine, accounting for 42 percent of the total.

Currently, Yunfu is home to over 3,100 registered enterprises in the stone industry with a total output value of 31 billion yuan. Over the past five years, the city has experienced an average annual growth rate of 8 percent in its total export-import volume.

According to the press conference held Wednesday, the exhibition area covers around 30,000 square meters with 340 exhibition booths. A total of 209 exhibitors are attending the fair. Among them, 14 are foreign enterprises from countries including Turkey, Iran, Italy, Mexico, Switzerland and Ukraine.

The stone cultural festival, themed “Delicate stone art, infinite creativity,” features a Guangdong stone art creativity competition and an exhibition of stone artwork, the national stone carving and inscription design competition — the 1st Wuding Cup Craftsman On-Site Sculpture Competition — Master Xu Hongfei Artwork Exhibition and Lecture, and a unique art program.
