TRAFFIC police in Shenzhen and Ningbo City of Zhejiang Province joined hands to impound a Ferrari sports car recently, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported Saturday. “Using big data we found that a red Ferrari sports car with a Shenzhen license plate had appeared in both Ningbo and Shenzhen at the same time, so we notified the Shenzhen traffic police,” said Wei Yang, a traffic policeman in Ningbo. At around 2:30 p.m. Oct. 1, the Ningbo traffic police found the red Ferrari in a hotel parking lot. According to the driver, surnamed Wang, the car was rented in Xiaoshan District of Hangzhou, and was driven to Ningbo on the National Day. It was also discovered that Wang had been driving without a license. The local traffic police department detained Wang for 10 days according to the law and imposed a fine of 2,000 yuan (US$288). Meanwhile, the police confirmed that the car was a real Ferrari with a real license plate. Subsequently, the Shenzhen traffic police immediately carried out an investigation in the city and found the suspected vehicle and driver in Bao’an District on Oct. 16. It was confirmed that this Ferrari had a fake license following on-site verification and it was impounded by the Shenzhen traffic police. The case is currently under further investigation.
