1st responders appointed in Shajing
    2018-10-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AFTER undertaking an 80-hour training course, 102 grass-roots staffers working at the Shajing Subdistrict Office and 21 community work stations officially became the first batch of first responders in Shajing, Bao’an District, on Friday, sznews.com reported.

To be certified as official first responders, the candidates had to undertake a two-week theoretical and practical training course and pass final exams.

A first responder is a person with specialized training who is among the first to arrive and provide assistance at the scene of an emergency, such as an accident, natural disaster or terrorist attack.

The purpose of training and appointing first responders is to increase the subdistrict’s emergency response capabilities, according to the subdistrict office.

The training course consisting of nine individual sessions has drawn on the experiences, both theoretical and practical, of emergency trainings at home and abroad, including the United States, Germany, Japan and the Chinese cities of Qingdao and Chengdu.

In particular, the Shenzhen Emergency Center and the firefighting team at the Shajing police station provided practical training in the handling of first-aid emergencies and fire accidents.

Since the first responders are required to go to the scene of an emergency the moment they receive notice, they shoulder a high degree of risk and pressure. Therefore, each of the certified first responders is provided with a special accident insurance policy.  (Zhang Qian)
