More parks being built in Baguang area
    2018-10-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

FOUR parks based on the four seasons of the year will be built at Shenzhen International Bio Valley in the Baguang area, Dapeng New Area, the Nanfang Daily reported yesterday.

As an important part of the park system in the Baguang area, the four parks include a sightseeing park, a central park, a country sports park and a wetland park.

The wetland park, the sightseeing park and the central park are currently under construction, while the country sports park and a seaside park will break ground next year.

The Baguang area began to fully launch the construction of infrastructure and municipal supporting facilities in early 2017 and had a comprehensive design regarding park construction, said the report.

The wetland park is a natural home to ancient silver-leaf trees and is expected to be opened to the public at the end of the year, while the sightseeing park has a coastline stretching more than 1.6 kilometers and is abundant in precious plant resources.

As the core of the area’s ecological park system, the central park occupies an area of 1.98 square kilometers and a large part of the Baguang Bay coastline.

According to statistics, the Baguang area is home to 376 plant species and diverse insect and fish resources, attracting 97 species of birds and a variety of mammals to inhabit the area, which is said to be the greatest treasure trove of ecological conservation in Shenzhen.

Therefore, the design concepts for the parks will base on protecting the biodiversity of the area while integrating sports, leisure, culture and other elements.

Also of note, although the Baguang area is planned as a coastal science and technology town, most of the ecological areas are preserved. The construction coverage is less than 18 percent of the whole area.

Statistics showed that the total area of Baguang is 31.9 square kilometers. The total planned area is 9.46 square kilometers, of which the land area for construction is about 5.68 square kilometers, while agricultural land, forestry, wetlands, and countryside parks cover 3.4 square kilometers.
