Apple has changed its bagel emoji to include cream cheese and more realistic details after a widespread outcry* from users. In the fourth beta release of iOS 12.1, the original bagel has been swapped out with a more realistic version. Apple apparently heard the criticism emanating* from users worldwide which in some cases referred to the original emoji as “something you get from a cardboard box in the freezer section at Walmart.” The first emoji depicted a plain bagel — no seeds, spread, or other toppings, which sent users into an angry frenzy. Emoji go through a formal process before they land on your smartphone. They’re approved by the Unicode Consortium, the body that maintains and publishes standards around emoji. The emoji designs may differ based on each tech giant, so for the bagel, it may look different depending on which operating system or devicemaker you use. Microsoft’s bagel emoji looks characteristically cartoonish, while Samsung’s bagel remains plain and plastic-looking. Apple took a page from* Google and Twitter and added some cream cheese to its bagel to make it appear slightly more appetizing*. Apple also isn’t the first tech firm to get caught up in an emoji event. Google is the only tech company that offers a cheeseburger emoji with cheese below the patty. Apple, Facebook, Samsung and others all place the cheese on top.(SD-Agencies) |
