A TOTAL of 24 logistics companies based in Bao’an exhibited their services and achievements made in the industry at the three-day 13th China (Shenzhen) International Logistics and Transportation Fair (CILF), which closed Oct. 13, according to a Bao’an Daily report.

The 24 companies were selected by the district’s economic promotion bureau to showcase Bao’an’s strength in the logistics industry. According to the report, the district’s exhibiting area at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center had attracted a large number of potential clients and audience to attend during the fair.

Thanks to the district’s proximity to Shenzhen’s airport and the city’s major ports, Bao’an is an area with industrial clusters of the logistics and manufacturing sectors. The logistics industry has even become one of the district’s pillar industries.

Bao’an is also playing a vital role in connecting major cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with its unique location. The logistics industry thrive in the area because it enterprises can transport goods to peripheral cities with high efficiency and low transportation costs.

Bao’an has become known for being a major district of industries and export in Shenzhen because the solid basis in industrial development it has built over the past few decades. The district achieved a gross domestic product of 344.83 billion yuan (US$49.67 billion) in 2017, with an increase of 9.2 percent year on year.

In particular, the logistics industry contributed 8.89 percent to last year’s gross domestic product growth in Bao’an, becoming a driving force for the district’s economic development.

Transportation networks also keep improving in the district as more inter-city highways, railways and airlines are constructed and opened in Bao’an, greatly facilitating the prosperity of the logistics industry.

Bao’an’s district government has continuously rolled out supportive policies to facilitate the industry’s growth, according to a person in charge of the economic promotion bureau.

The district government issued a number of favorable policies to support the logistics industry this year with a goal to help the industry in Bao’an to achieve added value expected to exceed 38 billion yuan by 2020. (Cindy Zhang)
