A TOTAL of 45 “fitness trails” have been built in Xin’an Subdistrict over the past three years. Residents of the Taihua Junting housing estate in Haifu Community recently sent a “thank you” banner to the subdistrict office to show their appreciation for the subdistrict’s efforts to provide residents with fitness facilities. The housing estate is home to more than 500 families but did not have a special area for residents to exercise. After Cai Jianfeng, Party chief of Haifu Community, heard the complaints of residents over the lack of exercise facilities, he decided to set up a “fitness trail” in a vacant space in front of the community clinic. A variety of types of exercise equipment, including walking machines, horizontal bars and parallel bars, were installed. Some equipment catering to young people, such as whirlwind wheels and horse-riding machines, were added later. The Haifu Community used the government’s special fund for minor wellbeing projects to build three amusement facilities for children and five “fitness trails” this year. Some residents have volunteered to serve as guards to ensure the equipment is properly used and maintained. (SD News) |
