“IT is an honor, and also responsibility, to have my building rated as a five-star building,” said Cheng Wenjun, a building manager in Fuyong Subdistrict, Bao’an District, at an awards ceremony on Safe and Civic Buildings of Fuyong in Huaide Community on Sept. 29. “I will continue to fulfill my responsibility for managing the building and making it a safe home for residents with better services,” said Cheng, whose building was among the 133 buildings that earned the top rating of five stars in a campaign launched in early July to build a safer environment in the neighborhoods in Fuyong Subdistrict. After a nearly three-month assessment of 5,564 rental apartment buildings in Fuyong, 609 buildings were rated four-star and 3,342 three-star, while the 1,377 that were rated two-star will be strictly monitored, and the 103 one-star buildings will be banned from being rented. Before the campaign was launched, detailed assessment criteria were worked out through trainings for certain building managers in each community that involved visiting some urban villages and upmarket housing complexes. An app, Dingding, has also been developed for the paperless evaluation of the 5,564 buildings in the campaign, which greatly improved the efficiency of the assessment process. According to the Bao’an Daily, all 55 buildings in Xiantian No. 1 Community have been rated three-star or above, with 15 earning the top rating. The awards ceremony was held at Xiantian No. 1 Community in hopes of promoting their apartment building management experiences to other communities. The Daily said building managers play a vital role in building a safer community. Official statistics showed that building managers have provided 24 tip-offs regarding public security hazards and 1,661 clues about fire hazards this year. Thanks to the assistance of building managers, three suspected criminals were arrested and a crime den was raided. (SD News) |
