THE country has sped up efforts to transform from a coal-oriented structure to a cleaner and more diversified energy-production structure over the past 40 years, according to a report released by the National Bureau of Statistics.

Natural gas reached 148 billion cubic meters, and primary electricity came to 1.8 trillion kilowatt hours in 2017, data showed.

More forests

A FURTHER 15,333 hectares of forests and greenbelts will be added to Beijing by the year-end, according to the city gardening and greening bureau.

The new round of greening is being implemented in the city’s 16 districts, and nearly 70 percent of the work has been completed, the bureau said.
