Iwai’s first Chinese movie premieres
    2018-11-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

“LAST Letter,” a Chinese melodrama of love and loss directed by Japanese director and writer Shunji Iwai, opens in local theaters this weekend.

Starring veteran Chinese stars, actress Zhou Xun and actor Qin Hao, “Last Letter” uses the death of Zhou’s sister to tell a complex story of love, loss and longing that changes the lives of Zhou and her novelist friend Qin for decades. It’s a movie that rediscovers the treasures of written letters and honest feelings.

The much-anticipated movie is inspired by Iwai’s 1995 box-office hit “Love Letter,” a Japanese movie with a similar plot. “Love Letter” made an impact in other East Asian countries too.(SD-Agencies)
