Money reclaimed

A WOMAN who had put more than 20,000 yuan (US$2,886) in a carton that she forgot on a bus reclaimed the money recently thanks to the fee collector on Bus M369.

The woman, surnamed Zeng, put the money in the carton with some eggs and rice while she was riding the bus. She forgot the carton on the bus when she got off.

The fee collector, identified as Fu Xiaoyun, found the carton while doing cleanup. She brought it back to the bus terminal and when she opened the carton in the presence of her supervisor and the bus driver, she found the money inside.

Cancer cases

NEARLY 24,000 new cases of cancer were reported in Shenzhen last year, according to official statistics.

Nationwide, an average of more than 10,000 people a day, or seven people per minute, were diagnosed with cancer in China, the National Center for Tumor Diseases said earlier this year.

Early detection and diagnosis is crucial for treating cancer, medical experts say.

Swine fever

AN outbreak of African swine fever has been discovered in 17 provinces across the country, according to the official website of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

African swine fever is a highly contagious, viral disease that infects pigs.

It does not, however, affect humans or other animal species, experts from Futian’s anti-epidemic office told reporters.
