Trash to treasure: fertilizer machine draws crowd
    2018-11-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AS the 20th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) officially kicked off at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center on Nov. 14, a slew of Bao’an firms have exhibited at the fair with innovative and cutting-edge products.

Among the products showcased by Bao’an exhibitors, the organic fertilizer machine displayed by Shenzhen Sansheng Environmental Protection Tech Co. Ltd. has drawn a lot of attention, the Bao’an Daily reported.

Whether it is domestic garbage, kitchen scraps or garden byproduct, the machine is able to give it a shake and change waste into organic fertilizer, which can then be used for gardening maintenance or organic planting.

Established in Bao’an District in 2010, Shenzhen Sansheng Environmental Protection Tech Co. is a high-tech company with more than 10 years of experience in garbage disposal.

At the beginning of the company’s establishment, founder Hu Jun sold another company and three pieces of real estate in order to raise funds for the research and development of waste disposal equipment.

The company’s core businesses are organic waste reduction, resource utilization, harmless garbage treatment methods and microbial strain cultivation. It has set up an experimental base for organic waste recycling by joining hands with Canadian company NIPOTEC Inc. and South China Agricultural University.

At present, landfill dumping, incineration and composting are the major ways of disposal in China. According to statistics, the total area of waste dumped in China has exceeded more than 50,000 hectares, causing overload to landfills.

Additionally, waste incineration seriously pollutes the air, and a large number of harmful gases such as ammonia, sulfide, and dioxins generated by incineration will adversely affect people’s health.

The most environmentally friendly way of disposal is composting the organic components. However, the existing domestic composting technology is relatively backward with a low degree of mechanization.

With knowledge of this situation, the company developed an organic fertilizer machine. According to Zhu Haobo, chairman of the company, domestic waste can be treated after composting with no adverse effects to the environment.

“Domestic garbage and kitchen waste are treated by the organic fertilizer machine to produce bio-organic fertilizer, which can be directly used for gardening maintenance or organic planting. There is no odor in the processing procedure and the conversion speed is fast,” said Zhu.

According to Zhu, the fertilizer machine can not only help the government solve waste reduction problems, but also can reduce the land area occupied by waste. At present, six subdistricts in Bao’an have purchased the company’s services for the treatment of kitchen waste and fruit and vegetable garbage.

In particular, the garbage degradation station in Xinqiao Subdistrict covers an area of 100 square meters and can process 180 tons of garbage per month. The garbage degradation station in Fuyong Subdistrict covers an area of 60 square meters with a monthly processing capacity of 150 tons.

In 2016, Shenzhen Sansheng Environmental Protection Tech Co. was rated as a high-tech enterprise in Shenzhen. It currently possesses five invention patents and utility model patents, respectively.(Zhang Yu)
