CONSTRUCTION of the first public vertical garage in Bao’an District is expected to be finished and opened for trial use by the end of this year, announced the district’s transportation group. Currently, the project is undergoing the installation of steel structures and almost 80 percent of the construction has already been finished. The smart vertical garage was funded by a subsidiary of Bao’an Transportation Group and is located in Xin’an Subdistrict. Before the renovation, the garage had only 75 parking spots. A total of 137 additional spots will be available when the project is complete. With four elevators to move vehicles, the vertical garage can efficiently help drivers save time when parking their car. It will take 90 seconds on average for a driver to park or retrieve a car. There will be 22 parking spots with charging poles for new-energy vehicles. Bao’an Transportation Group is also investing in vertical parking projects in other areas of Bao’an District to upgrade public parking services. The group is also working on enhancing intelligent management platforms for vehicles. The smart platforms will collect information on all of the parking lots in Bao’an District and build a big data system to manage the parking lots. (Cindy Zhang) |
