Online streaming users

THE number of online streaming service users in China had reached 609 million as of June this year, according to an industry report released yesterday.

China’s online video market is estimated to exceed 201.6 billion yuan (US$29 billion) in 2018, up 39.1 percent year on year, according to the 2018 China Online Streaming Development Study Report.

Vice governor indicted

FENG XINZHU, former vice governor of Northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, has been indicted on a charge of taking bribes, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP) announced yesterday.

According to the SPP’s statement, upon designation of the SPP, a procuratorate in Hangzhou, East China’s Zhejiang Province has filed the case in the Hangzhou Municipal Intermediate People’s Court.

Poverty alleviation

CHINA’S Central Government has dispensed in advance part of its 2019 poverty alleviation fund to local governments, the Ministry of Finance said Tuesday.

The poverty alleviation funds already allocated to 28 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities totaled 90.98 billion yuan (US$13 billion).
